All throughout middle school and high school my favorite subject was always science. I loved the fact that I could experiment, explore, and come to my own conclusions about the world around me. The part I loved the most was learning how and why things functioned the way they did in nature. It wasn’t until anatomy my junior year in high school taught by Mr. Hale that science took on a whole new meaning for me. Mr. Hale was the type of teacher that recognized the potential in his students and one day after class he gave me a textbook to keep because he knew how interested I was in the subject. When I decided in college that teaching was the road for me I decided I wanted to be like Mr. Hale. I wanted to be the type of teacher that would go the extra mile for my students and see the potential in them. I want to be able to foster and encourage their interests and learning like he had done for me. I want to be able to take the knowledge I have gained in all of my science classes and make science fun for those students that didn’t necessarily have the interest that I did it.
